Setting up your first store

Work through the store-readiness checklist — currency, language, identity, location, tax, payments, and shipping — before your first order.

Last updated: 9 min read

Your dashboard Home shows a store-readiness checklist grouped into Foundations, Catalog, and Checkout. A store can't sell until the essentials are in place, so this guide follows that checklist in order. Plan for about an hour of focused work.

Foundations

  1. Currency & language

Open Global Configuration → Localization. Set your store currency and number formatting, then choose your default language, your enabled languages, and your timezone.

  2. Store identity

Open Global Configuration → Store Identity. Enter your Company Display Name and Company Legal Name (used on invoices and emails), your address and tax/VAT number, logos, and contact details.

  3. Storefront pages

Open Content & Navigation → Pages and publish your essential pages — Terms, Privacy, About. The 'add default pages' action scaffolds the essentials for you.

Catalog

  1. Set a default location

Open Commerce Management → Organizational Units and create a default location with a full address. This is your stock and fulfilment origin — stock operations need it.

Checkout

  1. Add a tax rule

Open Commerce Management → Tax Management and add at least one tax rule for your country (for example, VAT 18%).

  2. Enable a payment method

Open Commerce Management → Payment Methods and enable at least one method so customers can pay. Cash on Delivery is enabled by default.

  3. Set up shipping

Open Commerce Management → Shipping Settings and add a delivery method, a zone, and a rate. The quick shipping setup does all three at once.
