Way In isn't a store in the usual sense — it's a ticketing platform. But underneath the seat maps and the events, it runs on Vendor's ecommerce engine, extended for a job most commerce platforms never imagine.
The challenge
Ticketing looks like ecommerce from a distance and behaves completely differently up close. Selling a seat at an event means an interactive map, real-time availability down to the individual seat, and a purchasing flow that has nothing in common with adding a t-shirt to a cart. Most platforms can't be bent that far.
Way In needed enterprise-grade ticketing — interactive seat selection, a custom storefront, and a mobile app — without building an entire commerce backend from scratch to support it.
What we did
We delivered an enterprise custom tier that uses Vendor's ecommerce as the backend platform and extends it for ticketing — building the specialized layers on top of a proven commerce core.
- Vendor ecommerce as the backend platform powering orders, payments, and inventory.
- Custom ticketing logic built on top of that commerce core.
- An interactive seating map for real-time, seat-level selection.
- A bespoke storefront designed for buying tickets, not products.
- A dedicated mobile app extending the same platform to phones.
“We didn't want to build a commerce backend just to sell tickets. Vendor gave us that for free, and we built the ticketing on top.”
The result
Way In runs a full enterprise ticketing platform — interactive map, custom storefront, and mobile app — on top of Vendor's commerce engine, rather than reinventing orders, payments, and inventory from zero.
Using a proven ecommerce backend as the foundation let the team pour their effort into the parts that make ticketing special — the seat map, the buying flow, the app — while the commerce fundamentals just worked underneath.
